Do it Anyway
These powerful words have inspired me in many ways.
Even though God is good, sometimes bad things happen. And for anyone who has experienced hardships, it can be difficult to keep your faith when life feels so unfair.
Having worked at All God’s Children for 13 years, I have witnessed more neglect, abuse, and abandonment than I could have ever imagined. There are times when I've wanted to give up, but I have learned that the best way to get through it is to Do it Anyway.
Personally, I have had to be intentional about noticing and acknowledging the good in my life in every situation. Whenever there is tragedy, there are people who step up to help. Wherever there are neglected and abused children, there are people ready to fight. When parents are struggling with substance abuse, there are people willing to provide treatment. There is good all around us. This is where you will find God in those hard times of your life. When it is difficult to believe that tomorrow could be better than today, Do it Anyway.
Feeling defeated when bad things come is normal. God is there to get you through any hardships in life that come your way. Finding the strength to get back up when you fall can be tough, but Do it Anyway.
There may be people who try to bring us down instead of building us up. This is not helpful, nor is it beneficial to do the same to them. When it is a struggle to be kind and treat others the way you would like to be treated, Do it Anyway.
In my13 years at AGC I have witnessed more neglect, abuse, and abandonment than I could have ever imagined. But, with all of the ugliness I have witnessed, there has also been more beauty than I could have ever imagined; foster families willing to help other families and children, social workers dedicating their lives to the care and safety of our neglected youth, therapists spending everyday improving the mental health of our families and children. This is where God is. When it is a struggle to keep the faith, Do it Anyway.
