AGC is committed to the foster parents and foster children we serve and strive to find the best possible match for both parent and child.

We are seeking families to surround a child and invite him or her to experience a community that shows God’s love—made real in action, not just in word. Coming to the defense of the broken, showing the love of God to the helpless, creating an environment of love and support for the forgotten, and seeking justice in the midst of chaos is the very calling of the church, and Sunrise works to fulfill that calling every day.

On any given day, there are more than 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. Despite the common perception that the majority of children in foster care are very young, the average age of a child in care is around 8-9 years old.

Each foster parent gets a set rate per day per child, which is paid out monthly. Rates depend on the level of need the child requires, which is determined by the state.

AGC offers numerous wrap around supports to help you maintain your wellbeing that include, but is not limited t0. monthly support groups, therapy services, and deeply discounted AGC Daycare rates.

Fight to Foster.

Imagine...

Two babies born on the very same day. One is born at zero—into a safe home with loving parents. She will never think twice about clean sheets, dinner on the table, or someone to kiss her goodnight. Her life starts with stability.

The other is born already in the negative—into chaos, neglect, or a home that cannot keep her safe. Her earliest memories will not be of family but of foster care.

Sitting across from the tired single mom, we listen as she shares her story. She grew up in the system. Aged out. Fell into a relationship. Had children. And then—was left alone again. When her car was totaled and she lost her job, the cycle could have easily continued. But she refused to give up.

AGC has been walking beside her. We’ve helped her secure transportation, rebuild employment, and find the resources to get back on her feet. We’ve been helping her write a new story for her family.

This is a new era for AGC—or rather—a return to our roots. For years, we’ve recruited and trained some of the best foster parents in the world. But now, we’re once again coming alongside at-risk parents—fighting to keep children out of foster care before it’s ever needed.

This is prevention. This is family preservation. This is hope.

FAQs

How long will it take to become certified and have a child placed in my home?

Certification, on average, will take up to 3 months. A portion of the training is self-directed, so that part will depend on the speed in which you are able to complete online modules, and any adaptations to the home that may be required (such as making sure all smoke detectors are working, fire extinguishers are present, etc…)

Why are children in foster care?

The reason a child may be in foster care varies, but the most fundamental reason is that their family is experiencing turmoil. It is common that a child is removed from a home due to findings of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation of the child or anything else that may make it unsafe for the child to remain in the home.

How does a child enter into foster care?

When suspicions or allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation are reported, Child Protective Services (CPS) will investigate to determine the safety of the child. If it is determined that the child is in danger, CPS will relocate the child, first searching for a relative, then working to find a foster home for the child if a relative is unable to take the child.

What are the ages of children in foster care?

All ages. But most often, we see teenagers or younger children with sibling groups. We need families who are willing to embrace the joys and challenges of teens, or who would like to help in keeping siblings from being separated from one another.

How long will a foster child stay in my home?

There are many factors that may impact the length of time a child is in your care. The average foster child is in a home for six to eighteen months. It depends on the willingness of the biological family to work on their case plan and the determination of the team on when the case plan has been fulfilled.
